29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Almighty ever-living God, grant that we may always conform our will to yours and serve your majesty in sincerity of heart. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Ignatius of Antioch

Almighty, ever-living God, the sufferings of the martyrs adorn the Church, which is the Body of Christ. As we celebrate the martyrdom of Saint Ignatius of Antioch, grant that it may be for us a constant source of strength, as it was for him the entry into glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

Saint Teresa of Avila

Almighty God, our Father, you sent Saint Teresa of Ávila to be a witness in the Church to the way of perfection. Sustain us by her spiritual doctrine, and kindle in us the longing for true holiness. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

The Doorway

O Lord, you have told us to knock and the door would be opened to us. You yourself are the doorway into everlasting joy. Open your way before us as we set out on this day’s journey and guide us to our journey’s end, that, when evening comes, we may enter the courts of your presence rejoicing, who live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Edward the Confessor

Lord, you raised Saint Edward, king and confessor, to excel in good government and faithful service. May these ideals survive and flourish among us through his prayers. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen

Saint Wilfrid (634AD – 709AD)

O God, who endowed the Bishop Saint Wilfrid with outstanding graces for the building up of your Church, grant that, by the help of his prayers, we may, like him, weather every storm and be brought at the last into the haven of your peace. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“In many ways, the Eucharist is a foretaste of the wedding feast. The Eucharist is a foretaste of our life with God. On that day “God will destroy the veil that veils all peoples, the web that is woven over all nations; The Lord God will wipe away the tears from every face” (Is 25:9). On that day we will cry out, “Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us!” Until then, the Eucharist is our wedding feast and our deepest union with God. May we always be found prepared and worthy.” ~Fr. Satish Joseph

Lord God, open our hearts to your grace. Let it go before us and be with us, that we may always be intent upon doing your will. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

Saint Paulinus of York

O God, who sent the Bishop Saint Paulinus of York to build up your Church, grant, we beseech you, by his prayers and example that we may make known your wonders and tell of your truth, that with him they may receive the reward you prepare for all your faithful. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

Saint John Henry Newman

O God, who bestowed on your Priest Saint John Henry Newman the grace to follow your kindly light and find peace in your Church; graciously grant that, through his intercession and example, we may be led out of shadows and images into the fullness of your truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

The Cross

“It is of crucial importance that the cross of Jesus Christ is in the center of our hearts – central to our calling, and central to our mission. The Lamb of God on the cross stands before the throne of God. (Rev. 5:6) The cross is the center of the universe. We must experience its meaning in its height, depth, and breadth as a mystical revelation through the Holy Spirit. It is not enough to believe it; we must ask God that we may be allowed to experience it in a living way.” ~J. Heinrich Arnold
