Light Inaccessible

O God, hidden in light inaccessible, you have revealed the face of your love in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Grant us the grace to worship you with reverence and to entrust ourselves to you in love, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen

Ss. Peter and Paul

Father in heaven, who still leads the Church through Saints Peter and Paul, bless each of us and especially our leaders, that, like those holy men we celebrate today, we might all value your perfect will above our own. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Irenaeus

O God, you instilled in Saint Irenaeus the profound wisdom of those who love your Word made flesh. Through his example and his intercession, grant all your people the courage to live the faith we profess, through Christ our Lord. Amen

Saint Josemaria, Pray for Us

O God, who raised up your priest Saint Josemaria Escriva in the Church to proclaim the universal call to holiness and the apostolate, grant that by his intercession and example we may, through our daily work, be formed in the likeness of Jesus your Son and serve the work of redemption with burning love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

False Bravado

O God of mercy and compassion, all our guilt lies open to you, all our secret sins are known to you, all our ugly ways are clear before you, yet you never cease to offer us your redeeming love. Have mercy on us in our pitiful attempts to cloak our sinfulness with false bravado, and grant us the joy that comes with full repentance, through Christ our Lord. Amen

Nativity of Saint John the Forerunner

Almighty God, give your people grace to enter on the way of salvation. As they hearken to the voice of John, the Lord’s herald, bring them safely to Jesus, whom John foretold. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

The Only Jesus We Know

“The only Jesus we know, the Jesus of the Gospels, told us to love as he did; that is, to touch and serve the specific individuals we meet. Jesus did not come to earth for the sake of humanity. He came for you and for me.” ~Peter Kreeft, from his book The God Who Loves You

Ss. Thomas More & John Fisher

Father, you confirm the true faith with the crown of martyrdom. May the prayers of Saints John Fisher and Thomas More give us the courage to proclaim our faith by the witness of our lives. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Romuald

O God, who through Saint Romuald renewed the manner of life of hermits in your Church, grant that, denying ourselves and following Christ, we may merit to reach the heavenly realms on high. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
