We may be living on the edge of eternity – but that should not make us dismal. …The early Christians rejoiced to think that the end of the world was near, as they thought. Are we so unready to face God? Are we so avid for joys here that we perceive so darkly those to come? ~Dorothy Day, The Reckless Way of Love

May 31: The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Eternal Father, you inspired the Virgin Mary, mother of your Son, to visit Elizabeth and assist her in her need. Keep us open to the working of your Spirit, and with Mary may we praise you for ever. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
A Church that does not provoke…
Memorial Day 2017
Most High and Glorious God, look with mercy upon all those who have died in the service of their country. May their sacrifice not have been in vain and may they never be forgotten. Amen
To Call Upon God as “Our Father”
Christians long for the entire human family to call upon God as “Our Father!” In union with the only-begotten Son, may all people learn to pray to the Father and to ask him, in the words that Jesus himself taught us, for the grace to glorify him by living according to his will, to receive the daily bread that we need, to be understanding and generous towards our debtors, not to be tempted beyond our limits, and to be delivered from evil (cf. Mt 6:9-13). ~Benedict XVI, Pope-Emerit; Caritas in Veritate, #79
May 27: St Augustine of Canterbury
May 26: Feast of St. Philip Neri
May 25: Feast of the Ascension of the Lord
God our Father, make us joyful in the ascension of your Son Jesus Christ. May we follow him into the new creation, for his ascension is our glory and our hope. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
Strive to Preserve Your Heart
“Strive to preserve your heart in peace and let no event of this world disturb it. Reflect that all must come to an end. Keep spiritually tranquil in a loving attentiveness to God and when it is necessary to speak, let it be with the same calm and peace. Let Christ crucified be enough for you, and with Him suffer and rest.” ~St. John of the Cross
If God Can Work Through Me…
“I have been all things unholy; if God can work through me, He can work through anyone.” ~St. Francis of Assisi
