Our Hope and Our Desire

Lord Jesus Christ, you are our hope and our desire. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, purify our hearts to seek you and your will with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, that we may rejoice in the unimaginable blessing of your coming, which we prepare to celebrate. Who live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Return to Him

Lord our God, you sent your prophets to call all people to abandon their unfaithful pursuits and to return to you with all their hearts in preparation for the day of your coming. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ the Lord, recall us to the Gospel and grant us true conversion, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Adonai

O Adonaï, et dux domus Israël, qui Moyse in igne flammae rubi apparuisti, et ei in Sina legem dedisti: veni ad redimendum nos in brachio extento.

O Mighty Lord and leader of the house of Israel, who appeared to Moses in the burning bush, and on Sinai gave him the law: Come to redeem us with outstretched arm.

God of promises given and promises kept, you said long ago that you would send us one who would be both King and Messiah. Come to meet us in our preparation for the celebration of his birth, that we may see you in him who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Gaudete Sunday

God of Joy, during this season when the sun sets early, help us to focus on the light that shatters the darkness. Give us the eyes to see you move among us and to experience a joy that transcends our circumstances. Give us the ears to hear again the good news. Give us the mouth to shout affirmations of your love for all to hear. Amen.
