Saint Augustine Zhao Rong and Companions

O God, who in your holy Martyrs have wonderfully made known the mystery of the Cross, graciously grant that, drawing strength from the witness of Augustine Zhao Rong and his companions, we may cling faithfully to Christ and labor in the Church for the salvation of all. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Do Not Fear

“Do not fear then, that your past faithlessness must make you unworthy of God’s mercy. Nothing is so worthy of mercy as utter weakness. He came from heaven to earth to seek sinners, not the righteous; to seek that which was lost – as indeed all were lost if it were not for him. The physician seeks the sick, not the healthy. Oh, how God loves those who come boldly to him in their foul, ragged garments and ask, as of a father, for some garment worthy of him!” ~François Fénelon

Our Daily Bread

Almighty God, you are the help and protection of your people. Give us this day the daily bread of your Word; guide us in your ways; bring us safely to evening, that we may give you thanks and praise, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Saint Maria Goretti

O God, who bestowed on blessed Maria Goretti a crown among the Saints for her twofold triumph of virginity and martyrdom, grant, we pray, through the power of this Sacrament, that, bravely overcoming every evil, we may attain the glory of heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Saint Anthony Zaccaria

Lord, enable us to grasp in the spirit of Saint Paul the sublime wisdom of Jesus Christ, the wisdom which inspired Saint Anthony Zaccaria to preach the message of salvation in your Church. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Thomas the Apostle

Father, let our celebration of the feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle be the source of his unfailing help and protection. Fill us with your life-giving grace through faith in your Son, Jesus, whom Thomas acknowledged to be his Lord and God. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Compassionate Engagement

“Our times cry out for a mass movement of compassion. This urgent need coincides with the goal of the Christ-following life, for unless our faith makes us compassionate, it can hardly be called Christian. Following Jesus means moving out of our privatized, isolated, and self-enclosed worlds into a compassionate engagement with our suffering neighbor.” ~Trevor Hudson, excerpt from A Mile in my Shoes: Cultivating Compassion

Saint Junipero Serra

God our Father, who sent Junípero Serra to the New World as the herald of your Gospel, through his intercession may we bear the light of your Gospel to others throughout our everyday lives. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
