One Mind, One Heart in Love

Lord Jesus Christ, you have promised and prayed that all your followers be of one mind and one heart in love, so that the world might believe that the Father had sent you. Now is the time, O Lord, now is the time: make true your promise among us. In your name we ask. Amen

Fear of Death

O God our Savior, by the power of the cross transform the terror that attacks all those who live in fear of death into courage to live anew according to the Gospel, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We Have Strayed

O God of all faithfulness, have mercy on us who have strayed from the covenant we embraced in baptism, and bring us into deeper communion with you through our Lenten observance. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

The Pit

O God our strength, our fortress, and our deliverer, you sent your Son into the pit of suffering and death for our redemption. Free us from all that would harm us, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen

Raise and Deepen

You saved us from death by your Death, O Lord. You raised us to life by your rising. Deepen your people’s communion with you in life and in death through our observance of Lent, who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Receive and Mirror God’s Love

O God, you are the help of all who are in need of you. You treat us not as we deserve but as you choose, and your choice is love. Widen our hearts to receive your love and to mirror it to saint and sinner alike, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Stripped of Glory

God of power and might, your Word stripped himself of glory and took flesh in the helplessness of the human condition. He offered no defense to those who harmed him. He wept for those who would not receive him. Such love, O Lord, lies beyond our power: remake us in his image through the intercession of Mary, his Mother. In his name we pray. Amen

Grant Us Humility

O God of mystery and majesty, the enemies of Jesus imagined that they knew him, and yet they knew him not. Deliver us from pride of spirit and grant us the humility that always seeks your face, through Christ our Lord. Amen
