Death Shall Have No Dominion

All-powerful and ever-living God, who created humankind for an everlasting sharing in your communion of love, grant that the faithful departed may be freed from every stain of sin and enjoy eternal rest in our heavenly homeland. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Defend us, Lord, against every distress so that, unencumbered in body and soul, we may devote ourselves to your service in freedom and joy. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Mary’s Maternal Hand

God our Father, you gave us the Blessed Virgin Mary as our mother. We thank you for the great goodness of this sublime gift. May we ever become more faithful children of this worthy Mother, that, being led by her maternal hand through the bitter valley of this life, we may arrive safely upon the heights of your heavenly Zion. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Strive to Live by the Light

Loving Father, who pour out your love abundantly upon all who seek you, draw unto yourself the souls of all the faithful departed, that they who strove to live by the light of your law while here on earth may, by our prayers, be rushed to their heavenly reward. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Charles Borromeo

O God of justice and of mercy, you guided Saint Charles Borromeo in promoting the full life of the Church in times of uncertainty and controversy. Through his intercession, continue to renew the Church today to seek the peace of your Kingdom for all people, through Christ our Lord. Amen

In the Shadow of Your Wings

O God of justice and of love, you care for your people in every time and place, despite our tendency to stray from you in our foolishness. Keep us in your care from morning until evening, that we may come to rest safely in the shadow of your all-powerful wings. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

All Souls Day

“Purgatory is, in a sense, akin to the experience of withdrawal symptoms in a detox from an addiction — exposing addiction’s roots, detaching our disordered attachments and the parasitical evils that inhabit us. Painful, yes, but it is a purifying pain full of hope for the “freedom of the children of God.” In fact, Romans 8:18-24 powerfully ties both agony, hope and freedom together in this very way! In addition, as it is with the way we seek freedom from our addictions in this life, Purgatory is also marked by a burden of love with which each person of faith in Christ’s Body is yoked, as we are called to bear one another up to the “Healer of the world” (Jn. 4:42) on the shoulders of our tireless works of mercy.” ~Thomas J. Neal, Ph.D.

Let us pray.

O God, the Maker and Redeemer of all believers: Grant to the faithful departed the unsearchable benefits of the passion of your Son; that on the day of his appearing they may be manifested as your children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever. Amen

Feast of All Saints

O God, you have given us your only Son as the source and measure of all holiness. Through the intercession and example of all the saints, whose memory we honor today, teach us to live as the holy people whom you have called into being in him, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
