Begin in Silence

I always begin my prayer in silence, for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence–we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what he says to us and through us that matters. Prayer feeds the soul — as blood is to the body, prayer is to the soul — and it brings you closer to God. It also gives you a clean and pure heart. A clean heart can see God, can speak to God, and can see the love of God in others. ~St. Teresa of Calcutta

    Pax et Bonum!
God gives us good instruction in Scripture about how to approach Him in prayer. He tells us, “Be still and know that I am God.” We in turn respond by saying, “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.” Once we are recollected and focused, we need only to be still and listen. Sometimes God will speak through His Word and other times through a person or situation.
In our busy, noisy world and lifestyles, we can easily forget about listening to God and snuff Him out. Then when we want to hear from Him, we experience difficulty in quieting our mind and activities. If we keep God in the center of our day, then we will always be ready for prayer and “listening.” God bless, Margaret+
