If we give ourselves over in faith to God and to Jesus, we will be cleansed. In his farewell words, Jesus says, “I am the true vine; you are the branches.” He says that if we are to bear fruit, we will need to be cleansed, and the knife of the gardener will need to cut into our hearts.
