O God, who spoke the word into the first darkness before the coming of the light, you sent Saint John the Baptist to prepare your people for the coming of the Messiah. Grant to your Church the gift of a joyful spirit, and guide all believers in the way of salvation and peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
