Thanks to the generous support of friends, we have exceeded our initial fundraising goal of $100,000. Praise God! We, the Friends of Little Portion Hermitage are thankful to God for His providential care poured out upon our endeavor through you, our benefactors.

However, factors unforeseen when our fundraising campaign began have increased the cost of property throughout Maine by nearly 25% as of this writing. Therefore it has become necessary to continue our fundraising campaign in hopes of raising another $50,000.

It is the goal of the Friends of the Little Portion Hermitage to purchase a property somewhere in the Diocese of Portland, Maine, to establish and maintain a small hermitage, and to support the life of the hermit who resides in the hermitage.

The two-fold purpose of our fundraising remains the same: First, to purchase property somewhere in the State of Maine where we will establish, maintain and provide ongoing support for a small hermitage so that our friend Br. Rex Anthony Norris and those who, please God, follow after him can continue to bear witness to the consecrated contemplative life of a diocesan hermit. Second, it is our hope that we will be able to build a second “retreat” hermitage on the same property to provide a place of retreat for anyone in need of a brief respite in the silence of solitude away from the demands of active ministry.

In addition to the GoFundMe link above, you will note elsewhere on this site a PayPal link. Please prayerfully consider supporting consecrated contemplative life in the Church as it is expressed by the vocation of the diocesan hermit, a vocation lived for the glory of God, the good of the Church and the salvation of souls.

Thank you and may God bless you!
